Use of Standards in Evaluation of School Leaders, Preparation Programs, and/or Other Purposes 
In 2010-11, North Carolina began implementing standards-based evaluation systems for superintendents, central office administrators and staff, principals (mandatory), and assistant principals (mandatory). In addition, the Standards for School Executives are also used to inform preparation programs, professional development, and mentoring for school executives.
